Lonpangan or Gedhogan used to be performed as entertainment after doing a traditional rice paddy peeling in preparation for a wedding or a circumcision celebration. The sound of music is made from the tools that they use to peel the rice, like the alu, lesung and lumpang. Those tools sounded good and have a special tone. They were singing while playing the musical instruments.
